These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Tide ("Tide," "we," "us") governing your use of the Tide app and the website at tidecampus.com (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use Tide.
1. Who can use Tide
- You must be a current college or university student with a valid .edu email address, and you sign in to verify it.
- You must be at least 13 years old (and old enough to form a binding contract where you live).
- One account per person. Your account is for you — don't share it, sell it, or transfer it.
- Provide accurate information and keep it current. Don't impersonate anyone or misrepresent your campus, affiliation, or identity.
2. Your account
You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your school email and device secure. Tell us at hello@tidecampus.com if you believe your account has been compromised. You can sign out or request deletion of your account at any time.
3. Community rules
Tide is a place for real students to meet real students. To keep it that way, you agree not to:
- Harass, bully, threaten, stalk, or intimidate anyone.
- Post hate speech, or content that targets people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar.
- Share sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate images, or anything that sexually exploits a person — ever.
- Spam, scam, phish, or run unsolicited promotions, ads, or commercial solicitation.
- Post illegal content, or use Tide to facilitate anything illegal.
- Share someone's private information without their consent (doxxing).
- Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access, collect, or interact with the Service.
- Circumvent campus isolation, verification, moderation, or any security feature.
Our Safety & Community Guidelines go into more detail and are part of these Terms.
4. Content you post
You own what you create. Posts, messages, profile details, and other content remain yours. By posting, you grant Tide a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, and distribute that content solely to operate and provide the Service (for example, showing your post to others on your campus). This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies retained in routine backups or as required by law.
You're responsible for your content and must have the rights to post it. We may remove content, or limit or remove accounts, that violate these Terms or our community rules.
5. The daily match & other features
Tide offers features like the campus feed, classes and group chats, events, and a once-daily "mystery match." These are provided as-is and may change, pause, or end as we improve the product. Matches and recommendations are generated automatically and are not guarantees of compatibility, safety, or anything else.
6. Suspension & termination
We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these Terms, put others at risk, or misuse the Service. You can stop using Tide and delete your account at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as content licenses for retained backups, disclaimers, and limitations of liability) will survive.
7. Disclaimers
Tide is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We don't promise the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, and we don't control or vouch for the conduct of other users. Tide is a fast-moving product and some features are in beta.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tide will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law.
9. Changes to the Service & these Terms
We may update the Service and these Terms as Tide evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above and, where appropriate, surfaced in-app. Continuing to use Tide after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except where your local consumer-protection law requires otherwise.
